The most important rule when optimizing your blog post is to remember to use the keyword that you are targeting in your blog post title tag. This is the most important factor in applying SEO title optimization.
Keywords On Your SEO Title
Let’s say that you have a blog about bulldogs. And you are going to write a blog post about the different breed of bulldogs. Now, targeting “different breeds of bulldogs” and “bulldog breeds” as your keyword for this post are two different animals (pun not intended).
The keyword “different breeds of bulldogs”, according to the Google Adwords Keyword Tool only returns 91 searches per month on an exact search match.
On the other hand, the keyword “bulldog breeds”, according to the same tool, returns around 2,900 exact match searches per month.
Now, it would obviously make sense to target “bulldog breed” as your keyword even if the two keywords are actually referring to the same subject.
So, how would you compose your title based on this keyword research?
You may choose use the keyword itself as your blog post title – simply “Bulldog Breeds”.
Creativity In Composing Title Tags
Or you may also choose to get more creative and compose a more catchy title. But the important thing is, as I said earlier, that you include the keyword that you are targeting in the title.
You can choose a title like “Different Bulldog Breeds In The World” or “A List Of The Different Bulldog Breeds”.
In both examples, the keyword is incorporated in the title of the blog post. Although there is a school of thought which states that the nearer the keyword is at the start of the title, the better it is for the title SEO.
So, if we are going to follow this, we can compose a title like this: “Bulldog Breeds And Their Different Characteristics”. It is not always easy to follow this advice. And sometimes, it would need some amount of creativity on your part to be able to compose an SEO title that meets this criteria.
Having said that, let me conclude this post by stating that a properly optimized SEO title may be able to get the search engines attention to raise your rankings in the search results. But it would still boil down to the creativity of your SEO title if it would appeal to the human web searcher if he or she would click on you link.
